Upya is the first official single produced by the multi-instrumentalist artist Alberto Brutti, better known under his project name KARU. The debut track, released on Beat Machine Records, reflects on his perception of music “like a ritual, where the essence lies in the final step and all the ideas become clear”.

This single breathes the freedom of improv jazz gently driven by the somber beats of the percussion and the throbbing double bass. Aboriginal vocals and samples veer off to a magical land where the mind unconsciously shifts under the spell of the radiant sax that keeps glowing with its giddy bursts. KARU weaves together several layers creating an aura of spacious serenity and lightness, something that recalls those sophisticated landscapes that Makaya McCraven portrayed in his credited “In the Moment”.

Upya means “to re-build”, says Alberto “ establish a deep connection between my thoughts and the music in order to create a new language that speaks through images of beauty and freedom”.
